What do I do if.........


I wish to become a member of Avendale/Drumclog?
Either come along to church with a friend who will introduce you to the minister, or pick up an orange "Welcome Card" from the desk, fill it in and then hand it to a duty Elder. Shortly after handing in the card you will receive a visit from an Elder.

I wish to become a member of Avendale/Drumclog, but have lost my "lines"
Contact the Session Clerk who will advise you.

I wish to have my child baptised in Avendale/Drumclog?
Contact the minister who will advise you. When he meets with you he will discuss with you the Church's understanding on Baptism, and, if appropriate, he will arrange a date for the Baptism and explain all the details to you.

I wish to be married in Avendale/Drumclog?
Contact the minister as soon as possible. He will fix a date with you, keep you right on any other formalities and arrange a follow-up date for a rehearsal. He will also tell you how to arrange the music for the service with the Organist.

I wish to arrange a funeral in Avendale/Drumclog?
Contact the minister immediately

Does the church charge fees for weddings or funerals?
The simplest answer is "no". However, there is a fee for the Church Organist. It is normal also to make a donation to offset heating, lighting and the preparation of the Sanctuary

I wish to have a tape-recording of a service?
Phone Ian Douglas on 01357 529476, who will arrange to have one delivered to you.

I wish to enrol my child in Sunday School?
Contact Rhona Armes-Martin, The Sunday School Leader. You can do this either by phoning her on 01357 522058, or by speaking to her on a Sunday morning. She will introduce you to the Leader of the Department of which your child will be a member. You will also meet his/her teacher.

I wish to help out with the Sunday School in some way?

I wish to submit copy for publication in the 'Covenanter'

I wish to book one of the rooms in Avendale?
Contact the Session Clerk who will advise you. There is a charge for each room and this covers the actual time the room is required.

I am moving house?
So that our records are accurate, you must inform the Roll Keeper as soon as you know your new address and telephone number. You can do this either by letter to Mrs May Spence by telephone (01357 521939). She will make all the necessary changes to the church records and inform the appropriate Elder(s).
